GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In a disturbing turn of events, a young Ocala resident, Kameryn Nehemiah Copeland, only 17, faces adult charges for his alleged involvement in a violent incident at the Crossing at Santa Fe Apartments. Copeland is accused of armed robbery and aggravated battery following a brutal assault on July 30, where a resident was reportedly pistol-whipped.
The incident unfolded around 8 p.m. when Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived at the apartment complex located at 3205 NW 83rd Street. Upon arrival, they discovered signs of a violent altercation, including blood spatter near the entrances of two apartments. With the victim’s consent, they entered his apartment and were immediately struck by the potent odor of burnt marijuana. Inside, they found a scene of chaos, with significant bloodstains, including two bloody handprints on the carpet. An overturned chair revealed the victim’s phone, while a suitcase by the door contained a substantial baggie of marijuana. Scattered throughout the apartment were loose marijuana, unrolled blunts, baggies, and scales, painting a picture of the disorder.
Later, at the hospital, deputies gathered more details from the victim. He recounted being assaulted by three males who had been residing temporarily at the apartment. Two of the assailants were identified as his roommate’s cousins; the third was known to him by the nickname “Greenlight Sammy.” The other two juveniles went by the monikers “Landon or LA” and “Spook.”
The victim described a harrowing scene where Greenlight Sammy was the initial aggressor, and upon his resistance, the other two joined in the assault. They reportedly believed he possessed a significant amount of cash and marijuana in his safe. The victim recounted that all three attackers were armed with handguns. In a chilling moment, as he attempted to seize Greenlight Sammy’s weapon, he heard one of the accomplices instruct, “Shoot him.” Realizing the dire situation, he ceased resisting, succumbing to the assault as they struck him with their pistols.
The victim said Greenlight Sammy attacked him, and when he fought back, the other two joined in; he said they believed he had a large amount of cash and “weed” in his safe. He said all three males were armed with handguns, and when he tried to grab Greenlight Sammy’s gun, one of the other two said, “Shoot him.” He said at that point, he stopped fighting and let them beat him with their pistols.
The victim said they left him lying on the floor and took his safe, about $40 in cash, and a cell phone. The victim said there was an AirTag in the safe and told deputies how to track it on the phone they found under the chair. The AirTag was found on the side of I-75, just north of Ocala, but the safe was not located; the deputies wrote that they believed the suspects opened the safe, found the AirTag, and tossed it out of the vehicle.
On July 31, deputies learned that the juveniles were cousins of the victim’s roommate and had been staying in the apartment for the past 10 days, but the roommate said he did not know the last names of either of his cousins; the juveniles were reportedly “on the run” from Marion County, but the roommate reportedly said he did not know what they were running from.
Detectives determined that “Greenlight Sammy” is Jaishun Mikal Darrien Turner, 24, of Reddick; “Landon” is Lynden Armon Maysonet, 14, of Ocala; and “Spook” is Copeland, who is also from Ocala. The victim reportedly picked all three out of photo line-ups.
On August 1, an officer from the Marion County Department of Juvenile Justice called Alachua County Sheriff’s Office to report that Maysonet and Copeland had cut off their ankle monitors and were believed to be staying with the victim’s roommate.
All three suspects have been charged with armed robbery and aggravated battery. Turner has been booked into the Alachua County Jail and is being held without bail until trial. Maysonet has been charged as an adult and is also being held without bail until trial.
Copeland has multiple juvenile convictions between 2022 and 2025, and Judge Adam Lee ordered him held without bail pending a hearing on a motion from the State Attorney’s office to hold him without bail until trial; if the judge denies the motion, bail will be set at that hearing.
Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
