On Monday evening, an Alabama resident was taken into custody following reports of him issuing “credible threats of violence against numerous synagogues across Alabama and neighboring states.”

Police executed a search warrant at Jeremy Wayne Shoemaker’s home in Needham, where they apprehended him. During the search, authorities confiscated weapons, “more than a suitcase full of ammunition,” body armor, and other items pointing towards “plans of violence.”

“Further investigation indicated that the suspect intended not to be captured alive and was possibly plotting attacks on public figures as well,” stated the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

Shoemaker is set to face local charges, including resisting arrest and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. The sheriff’s office mentioned that the investigation is still underway, and several federal charges are anticipated.
