In the ongoing search for Danielle Staley, a missing woman from Utah, her boyfriend, Alx Nunez, has volunteered to undergo a polygraph test to assist in the investigation. Staley, 35, was last seen on the night of November 7 near Rio Del Mar State Beach. Authorities in Santa Cruz County have expressed concerns that her disappearance may involve foul play.
Nunez, aged 62, has been vocal about his desire to aid in finding Staley, maintaining that he is not involved in her disappearance. “It’s a common assumption that the boyfriend or husband is the primary suspect, but all I want is to help find her,” Nunez explained, according to KSBW Action News 8.
The circumstances surrounding Staley’s disappearance are unsettling. She was last seen at a bonfire on the beach in Aptos, and the following day, Nunez reported her missing. Significantly, her personal belongings were discovered left behind, as noted by KRON 4.
“Absolutely not. Absolutely not. One hundred percent. God as my witness, I have nothing to do with it,” Nunez said.
The community remains on edge as the search for Staley continues, with investigators exploring all possibilities to uncover the truth behind her sudden disappearance.
Nunez said he reported Staley missing a day after she was seen at a bonfire, at the beach in Aptos. Police said her personal belongings were left behind, KRON 4 reports.
“When I woke up, she wasn’t there,” Nunez said.
“There’s cameras there, there’s a whole private subdivision there that is nothing but cameras, and there has to be some video surveillance of something, cars going in and out at that particular time between about 11 o’clock and about six in the morning.”
Nunez said that he’s speaking out due to the rumors swirling on social media. He also reportedly claimed Staley may have relapsed with drug use.
Police have not named Nunez a suspect in Staley’s disappearance, and he is cooperating with the investigation, ABC 7 reports.
Meanwhile, police are asking for security footage taken from Beach Drive, Rio Del Mar Boulevard, or the Esplanade between November 5 and 7.
Staley is described as a white female who stands 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighs 120 pounds, with blond hair. She was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and leopard-print leggings.
Anyone with information regarding Staley’s whereabouts is urged to Santa Cruz County police at 831-471-1121.
