Investigators looking at the murders of four University of Idaho students said Tuesday night in a press release that they have not been able to confirm information they received that one of the victims had a stalker.
The release said that detectives “have looked extensively into information they received about Kaylee Goncalves having a stalker.”
“They have pursued hundreds of pieces of information related to this topic and have not been able to verify or identify a stalker,” the department said, asking anyone with information to contact them.
Goncalves, roommates Xana Kernodle and Madison Mogen, and Kernodle’s boyfriend Ethan Chapin were found stabbed to death in their off campus home on November 13, as CrimeOnline previously reported. No suspects in the brutal slayings have been named. Two other roommates, both women, were in the home at the time and not harmed, having apparently slept through the attacks. They are not believed to be involved, police said.
Moscow Police also announced new webpage to provide resources about the investigation and clarified that the type of knife they believe was used in the murders is a “fix-blade knife,” likely meaning a fixed blade knife, which is a weapon in which the blade extends out of the handle of the knife and does not fold or slide into the handle. They are commonly used in hunting or combat.

Authorities plan a news conference on Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT (4 p.m. ET).
