A Montana man has been charged with attempted murder and attempted rape after a violent attack on two teens near the Crow Indian Reservation.
Carl Chester Alden, 32, pleaded not guilty at an arraignment after the Thursday attack, KECI reported.
He’s being held on a $1.5 million bond.
Alden allegedly shot the two teens, aged 14 and 18, in the head and tried to rape the younger victim. He’s also been charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and contempt of court.
Court documents say Alden had been using methamphetamine and was driving around south of Billings on Monday with the two teens and two other people. The 14-year-old argued with him, the documents say, and he shot her and the older teen and crashed into a ditch.
Police said he also charged at deputies who came to the scene. They subdued him with stun guns.

The condition of the two victims was not provided.
Prosecutors said Alden was sentenced to five years probation in 2014 when he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in a crash that killed a man on the reservation. Prosecutors wanted a four year prison sentence since Alden said he had been drinking and remembered neither getting behind the wheel of the vehicle or crashing.
