Investigators have reportedly identified the suspects involved in a deadly shooting at a South Carolina bar on Sunday. The tragic event resulted in four fatalities and left 20 others injured.
Despite having suspects in mind, Beaufort County Sheriff P.J. Tanner stated that no witnesses have yet corroborated the details of the mass shooting. The incident unfolded during a high school reunion, causing chaos as hundreds fled the scene, according to a report by WRDW.
“There were two, possibly three individuals within the crowd with an ongoing feud,” Tanner explained. “This feud escalated into violence, and instead of resolving their differences through communication, they resorted to gunfire.”
When questioned about the current threat level to the community, Tanner candidly responded, “I cannot tell you that you are safe in Beaufort County,” highlighting the ongoing risk as the shooters remain at large.
To aid the investigation, the FBI is working on enhancing security footage from the venue. Meanwhile, the state Law Enforcement Division is examining firearms, ammunition, and shell casings involved in the incident.
As CrimeOnline reported, gunfire rang out at Willie’s Bar and Grill, a well-known hotspot on St. Helena Island known for its Gullah-inspired cuisine. St. Helena Island is one of South Carolina’s inland Sea Islands.
The coroner’s office identified the dead as Kashawn Glaze, 22; Chiraad Smalls, 33; Amos Gary, 54; and A’shan’tek Milledge, 22. Gary was working security at the unofficial alumni event for graduates of Battery Creek High School.
The sheriff also said that four people who had been hospitalized in critical condition were now in “much better” conditions, WTOC reported.
