Aesha Scott may have signed an NDA to work for Leonardo DiCaprio, but she’s still sharing her experience yachting with the A-list actor.
Leonardo DiCaprio is nearly as famous for his yacht lifestyle as his film roles. A devoted boating enthusiast, he’s often photographed cruising exotic waters with lovers and friends. Tabloids frequently capture him shirtless on deck, cementing his reputation as Hollywood’s ultimate playboy at sea. Despite his frequent escapades, he emanated a different vibe when waited on by Below Deck‘s Aesha Scott.
Bravo fans fell in love with Aesha Scott when Below Deck Mediterranean first featured her in 2019. Since then, the chief stew has captivated viewers with her hilarious, outspoken nature and down-to-earth spirit. Aesha is the first to diffuse high-pressure situations and the last to judge a rowdy guest who gets a little too drunk before noon.
Given her professionalism and fun personality, it’s no surprise that the New Zealander has served A-list celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio. Aesha recently spilled what it was like to work for the Titanic star. “He was so polite and so lovely,” she told Us Weekly. “I just remember thinking that he was probably the most articulate man I have ever heard speak in my life. He was very articulate and very intelligent.”
DiCaprio has gained a reputation for his shirtless vacations, lounging in the sun on private yachts. He also gets down to business while sailing abroad. “He just wanted to be left alone because he was having all of these business meetings to do with his new book,” Aesha divulged. “This was years ago. So the book at the time was about climate change, and I just remember serving them — and obviously you can’t help but hear what they’re talking about.”
Stars like Leonardo DiCaprio are especially known for requiring NDAs on yachts to avoid leaks to tabloids. Did Aesha break an NDA to share her compliments about the 50-year-old? Likely not.
In most cases, celebrities and other ultra-wealthy yacht guests require crew members to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) before working on board.
High-profile charter companies automatically include NDAs in crew contracts to protect guest privacy. This is a standard practice on most luxury charters. These NDAs prevent crew from discussing who was on board, what happened during the trip, and sharing photos or videos. Many celebrities are understandably concerned about protecting their reputation while resting and relaxing on vacation.
Some NDAs are broad — just a general “no sharing” policy. Others are very detailed and cover everything from guest conversations to dietary preferences. While NDAs can be challenged legally, the threat of potential lawsuits and losing future work keeps most crew tight-lipped. This might be one reason why reality TV shows like Below Deck are so popular. They pull back the curtain on the behaviors of crew members and guests, showing the shocking and not-so-glamorous moments while navigating the high seas.
