House DJ Dom Dolla has spent the last week performing to cheering crowds across Australia as the Spilt Milk music festival swept through the nation.

But in his spare time, the Aussie producer, 31, seems to have struck up a friendship with troubled AFL star Ben Cousins, who attended the event in Perth on Sunday.

The unlikely ‘besties’ were seen with their arms wrapped around each other as they posed for a happy snap Dom shared to his Instagram on Wednesday.

‘Festi besties everywhere,’ the music artist captioned the post, which featured a whole reel of photos from his time performing alongside the likes of Post Malone.

Ben, 45, and Dom wore near matching outfits of black T-shirts and trousers, though the footy player opted for jeans while his mate slipped into corduroy pants.

The festival is an unusual outing for Ben who recently embarked on his new career as Seven News Perth’s sports presenter in June.

The West Coast great recently turned his life around after a series of troubled stints which saw him spend time behind bars and battle drug addiction.

He told Sunrise host Natalia Barr during an interview in September that ‘life was good’ and he was grateful for the opportunity to work at Seven.

He admitted it was a ‘long road’, saying: ‘I wish it hadn’t needed to run its course like it did, but life’s great at the moment.

‘When you strip everything back and assess your life, for anybody, it really is in its simplest form, goes back to what makes you happy and for a long time I wasn’t.’

‘But, you know, I very much am these days,’ he added, admitting his new foray into sports presenting was ‘daunting’.

‘I’ve done a fair bit of work over the past 18 months in the lead up to doing it live so there’s definitely been some anxiety and nerves attached to it, so it’s a work in progress.’

Ben played 238 games and booted 205 goals for West Coast between 1996 and 2007, winning the premiership in his penultimate season in Perth.

The former midfielder captained the Eagles from 2001 to 2005, securing the club’s best and fairest awards in four out of those five seasons.

He was suspended by the club in March 2007 – just six months after the Grand Final triumph against Sydney – for alleged substance abuse, and sacked six months later after being arrested for drug possession and refusing to submit to a blood test.
