Russell Westbrook offered a succinct and enigmatic hint regarding his retirement after completing his inaugural season with the Sacramento Kings. Just when it seemed that the renowned “Mr. Triple Double” might miss out on an NBA season, the Kings extended a lifeline by signing him to a one-year contract.

In a media session on Sunday, Westbrook addressed the press for the first time since his arrival in Sacramento. The discussion revolved around his inspiration as he embarks on his 18th NBA season, among other topics.

At one point, a journalist inquired whether this season might mark his farewell to the league. The former MVP didn’t shy away from the query; instead, he offered a brief two-word reply that hinted at the potential conclusion of his illustrious career.

During his media appearance, another reporter asked Russell Westbrook to reveal the motivation heading into his 18th season. The former league MVP kept his response simple and started it with a one-word answer, before delving into the details.

“Using this platform to build other parts of my life and businesses and just overall fun I have while playing and enjoying the game is something I will never ever take for granted.”

Later, Westbrook was asked about having a chip on his shoulder and it proving to be extra motivation for him. Mr. Triple Double said that he was used to having a chip on his shoulder and was blessed to have doubters. Lastly, he said that he was grateful to have an opportunity to go out and compete.
