Studio Ghibli has introduced a charming and festive way for fans of My Neighbor Totoro to exchange New Year’s greetings this holiday season. The studio’s online store has recently launched an enchanting collection of Totoro-themed stamps crafted specifically for 2026.

In Japan, the tradition of exchanging personalized stationery and custom greeting cards is deeply embedded in the culture, often exchanged among friends, family, and colleagues. The newly unveiled 2026 Totoro stamp set by Ghibli features six distinct designs, each showcasing one or two of the beloved nature spirits from the iconic anime film. The stamps come in various sizes, with the two largest measuring approximately 6 cm by 9 cm, making them perfect for larger cards. Each stamp is available for individual purchase, with prices ranging from 792 yen (approximately $5.12) to 1,870 yen (around $12.10).

Much like Ghibli’s 2025 collection, the new series prominently features the popular large Totoro in two of its bigger stamp designs. The “New Year’s Spinning Top” stamp portrays a joyful Totoro, umbrella in hand, as he unwinds a string from his small wooden flying gadget, reminiscent of the memorable scene where Satsuki and Mei float through the night sky clinging to Totoro’s belly. Another design showcases Totoro with his iconic leaf hat, accompanied by the Japanese phrase for “Happy New Year.” Additionally, fans can opt for the “Running Totoro” stamp, featuring the small white Totoro, to convey their New Year’s greetings.

In a fashion similar to Ghibli’s 2025 Totoro stamp collection, two of the larger stamp designs spotlight the large Totoro, undeniably the most famous of the trio. The “New Year’s Spinning Top” stamp depicts a cheerful, umbrella-wielding Totoro as he releases the string attached to his small wooden flying device. Notably, this object appears during the famous scene where My Neighbor Totoro protagonists Satsuki and Mei soar through a starlit night while holding on to Totoro’s belly. It’s companion design features Totoro, minus his large grin and umbrella, but instead with his classic leaf “hat.” Accompanying Japanese text spells out the message, “Happy New Year.” Totoro fans can also send a “Happy New Year’s” message with the “Running Totoro” New Year’s Stamp, which features the small white Totoro.

The white Totoro is also featured on the second-largest stamp, which includes Japanese text that reads, “Thank you for your support.” Approximately 9 cm long and 3 cm wide, the design depicts numerous white Totoro spirits alongside two makkuro kurosuke, or soot sprites — another type of Ghibli creature that makes its debut in My Neighbor Totoro. While the stamp collection’s release is timed to coincide with winter 2025-2026, one design evokes a distinct springtime theme. The “Kurosuke and Plum Blossoms” stamp features decals of bright pink flowers, allowing Ghibli fans to add floral accents to their messages. The final stamp in the set depicts the medium and small Totoros together as they politely “bow” towards the viewer.

Donguri Sora does not currently offer overseas shipping. However, the shop’s products are widely available through external retailers. Online, official Ghibli merchandise can be found on sites such as Meccha Japan, Sugoi Mart and Neokyo, among others. In the U.S., Ghibli products are available at major retailers such as Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble and BoxLunch. Depending on the viewer’s geographical location, My Neighbor Totoro is available to stream on Max or Netflix.
