Anthony Anderson is speaking out on backlash against him.
The Black-ish star set the record straight after a clip of his 2003 appearance on The Sharon Osbourne Show resurfaced online, sparking controversy over comments he made to guest Lindsay Lohan when she was 17.
When the Parent Trap star shared that she had recently bought a home with Raven-Symoné, he asked, “What gentlemen will be at the new pad?”
“No one,” Lohan told Anderson, then 33, clarifying that she didn’t have a boyfriend.
“She’s single but looking!” Anderson told the crowd, before Lohan chimed in, “But I’m illegal for people that are old.”
“Well, you know, some men like ’em young,” Anderson said. “We ain’t gonna mention no names, but, you know, I’m one of ’em.”
The comedian burst into laughter before launching into questions about her acting career.
After the clip gained newfound attention online—with one social media user writing July 25 that it “hasn’t aged well”—Anderson’s rep spoke out on the criticism.
