Aussie comedian Lewis Spears has recalled the awkward and hilarious moment Hollywood superstar Zac Efron turned down his request for a selfie backstage.

In a TikTok video going viral this week, Lewis revealed the sneaky trick Zac, 35, used to politely turn him down.

Lewis explained through laughter that High School Musical star Zac was so polite in turning his photo request down, he didn’t realise he got rejected until ten minutes after he asked for a picture.

Lewis said Zac got one of his team members to take some pictures of the pair together, even one with the flash on, and told him they would send the pictures to him over text.

But Lewis said despite giving Zac’s team his number, they never sent over the photos.

‘He shot me down in the most A-list, polite and in offensive way,’ Lewis said.

‘He hit me with a no that was so fucking cool that I didn’t even realise I had gotten a no until ten minutes after, it was so smooth.’

‘He came backstage and was like, ”man, you were so funny.” I’m not some freak, I met Rogan and I didn’t ask for a photo because that wasn’t the vibe. But backstage people were taking photos and I went to Zac, ”can we get one?”

‘He goes, ”how about this, we’ll get my guy to take a photo and then he’ll send it to you later.” And I was like, ”perfect.” We take like three photos, the flash everything,’ Lewis explained.

Lewis said he never received the pictures and felt a little embarrassed over the incident.

‘I was like, I’m never gonna see that photo in my life which is fine cause you know he’s done that to heaps of c**ts. Everyone was probably there being like, ”this d**khead thinks he’s getting a photo with Zac Efron!”

He finished: ‘God forbid, if I ever get that famous I know how to turn down a weird c**t when they asked for a photo and I don’t know them like that.’

Zac has been in Australia the past few weeks filming his new comedy, Ricky Stanicky.

The shoot has now wrapped, with the cast heading out to dinner together to celebrate earlier this month.

The film was made entirely in Melbourne over an eight-week period, with the Victorian capital being a double for Providence, Rhode Island.

The comedy, which also stars Jermaine Fowler, tells the tale of three teens who pull a prank and burn down a house in their neighbourhood.

To get out of trouble, they blame it on a made-up person who they call Ricky Stanicky.

Twenty years on, they keep using the fictional alibi to get out of any tricky situations they find themselves in.

When their wives want to meet the infamous Mr Stanicky, they hire an actor to play him.

High School Musical heartthrob Efron is no stranger to Australia spending time Down Under to film Netflix docuseries Down to Earth.

During his last stay Down Under, he dated part-time model Vanessa Valladares. Their split was confirmed in April 2021.

Andrew Santino also shared some moments from the shoot, including a photo where he and Zac were riding in a car with their co-star John Cena (left)
