Drake filed a defamation lawsuit following Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX performance

Drake filed a defamation and harassment lawsuit in January 2025 against his longtime label, Universal Music Group, centered on Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” In his complaint, Drake alleges that UMG knowingly approved and promoted the song even though it contained false, harmful claims. He also alleged that the label used various promotional tactics, including radio play and streaming boosts, to turn the track into a “viral hit.”

As a result, Drake says the lyrics led to serious real-world consequences. He experienced a shooting at his Toronto home that injured a security guard. He also allegedly endured attacks on his reputation and business value, according to the Los Angeles Times.
