Candace Parker is excited to celebrate this basketball season with her kids. The WNBA player took to Instagram this past weekend to dote on her wife, Anna Petrakova, and their kids, Lailaa and Airr Larry.
“Good, bad, win, loss … My highlight is going to see my kids after games,” Candace told her social media fans. “Fifteen-year difference and my heart is still exploding,” Parker said of her kids. “I love y’all SO MUCH,” the star athlete wrote to her family.
It was earlier this year that Candace Parker shared her decision to leave the Chicago Sky to play for the Las Vegas Aces. Her desire to spend more time with her wife and kids was the driving factor in Parker’s choice.
“My family is my reason and my purpose,” Candace told her social media fans in January. “They have given me the greatest joys I’ve ever experienced and continue to show me new levels of love and devotion I never knew existed,” the WNBA player revealed.
Parker gave special praise to her daughter who has been willing to travel anywhere with her mom and adjust to new atmospheres.
“Throughout her 13 years, Lailaa has always sacrificed for me; always put me first; and always supported me in what I wanted or needed to do, even when it was tough on her,” Candace told her Instagram followers. I need to be there for my daughter, for my son, for my wife,” the star athlete declared.
“After evaluating the landscape together with my family, we’ve decided the Las Vegas Aces are the right organization for us at this point in our lives,” Parker said of her decision to switch teams. “I’m forever appreciative of everyone in Chicago – our fans, teammates, coaches, and ownership,” the celebrity mom shared.
“But more than the past two seasons, I’m thankful for the city that raised me, the childhood friends I still have to this day, the teachers I still am learning from, and the moments in time that will forever be in my heart,” Parker continued. “While Chicago will always be my home, my family’s home is on the west coast,” Candace said.
Parker expressed satisfaction in her decision to move from Chicago to Las Vegas during a recent interview with PEOPLE. “I just really think at this point in my career, to be able to compete for a championship and to do it in front of my family, is the most important,” the sports player shared.
Lailaa is Candace Parker’s daughter with ex-husband Shelden Williams. Airr Larry is the WNBA player’s only child with her wife.
