Chris Kattan hospitalized with severe pneumonia.. as the former SNL star undergoes emergency surgery

Chris Kattan has been hospitalized with severe pneumonia.

The former Saturday Night Live star was rushed to the hospital on Sunday, December 4 with Streptococcus Pneumoniae and needed emergency surgery, according to TMZ.  

The 52-year-old actor, who recently starred in Celebrity Big Brother, is set to be released from the hospital on Friday, December 9.

The operation was a success, per TMZ, as the funnyman recovers in the hospital. 

Chris was in the midst of his comedy tour but is re-scheduling dates amid his health scare. 

The outlet reported that Chris was scheduled to do a stand up comedy show on Friday at Valparaiso, Indiana but it will be rescheduled.

The actor starred on Saturday Night Live from 1996 until 2003, making appearances as well in 2006 and 2011.

Earlier this year, Chris starred in Celebrity Big Brother 3, the American season. 

He ended up quitting the reality show, and he revealed why during an interview with Us Weekly.

‘It was a lot of fun, but it was hard,’ he told the outlet in February.

‘At some point, it just became hard not to talk to family. And for me, it became hard to be disconnected to the outside world,’ Chris said.

‘I don’t think I was so ready [or] realized what that felt like when you have cameras on you 24/7, except for when you’re going to use the bidet. That’s really it. I didn’t realize how much I missed my family and friends and my loved ones and girlfriend.’ 

Adding: ‘I’m so grateful for the time that I had there, and I made such great friendships.’
