Christine Lampard claims she had children to stop people asking when she was going to start a family.
The television presenter, 44, shares two children, Patricia, five, and Freddie, two, with her husband Frank, and is also a step-mother to Luna, 18, and Isla, 16, from his previous relationship with Elen Rives.
And Christine insists she’s achieved her dream of being self sufficient for her family.
She said during an appearance on Loose Women on Monday: ‘I had children to stop people asking me when I was going to have them. I’m glad I’ve had them. It’s because everyone assumes you have to be.
‘My biggest ambition in life was to be self sufficient, look after my mum and dad. It sounds very basic but that’s what drove me.

‘I wanted to be able to look after myself. I got my first job and 15. I worked through school and uni.’
It comes after Christine celebrated her step-daughter Luna’s 18th birthday with a rare throwback photo in August.
Christine rang in her milestone day with a sweet photo of Luna in New York’s Central Park.
Luna could be seen wrapped up warm in a padded coat and knitted hat in the scenic snowy snap.
Alongside the photo, she wrote: ‘And just like that….you’re 18!! Happy Birthday Luna.’
The sweet snaps come after Christine gave a rare insight into the blended family life earlier this summer.
She spoke about being a mother to Women&Home magazine, she said: ‘Freddie has just turned two, so he’s a whirlwind.

‘The two of them are funny and wonderful and exhausting. I think they’ve zapped every bit of energy from me, but it’s worth it.’

Christine said of her marriage to Frank: ‘We try and prioritise each other’s and the children’s needs, but when he was still playing football, he was away at least two or three nights of the week, then training.
‘Now, we do our best to go out for lunch or dinner, or have a night on the sofa when we can.’
The brunette beauty also explained that her life is very different now to when she first met Frank’s daughters and she can’t remember life before it.
She added: ‘Being part of a blended family is lovely. I don’t remember life before it now.

‘When I first met Isla and Luna, they were two and four – now they’re 16 and almost 18 and have just taken their GCSEs and A levels.’
Christine married footballer Frank back in 2015 in Knightsbridge, after meeting at the Pride of Britain Awards in 2009.
Frank revealed in 2018 that it was ‘love at first sight’ for the pair and that they are inseparable.
Christine is step-mum to Frank’s two daughters – Luna and Isla – from his previous relationship with Elen Rives.
