Colter Shaw is taking Tracker viewers to a place we have yet to see him go before in the upcoming episode called “The Mercy Seat,” but sadly, Bobby Exley was missing from the latest trailer. Amid Bobby’s continued absence from the show, Colter’s next mission looks like his most dangerous one yet.

“Colter helps an old friend with a search and rescue mission for two missing sisters in the snowy Montana wilderness,” the season 2, episode 16, logline said. “Meanwhile, Reenie gets a visit from a new client that challenges her morality.

The upcoming episode will air on Sunday, April 13, at 8 p.m. ET. CBS released a teaser trailer ahead of the episode, showing Colter, played by Justin Hartley, trudging along in the snow to solve the case.

In the clip, Colter was seen bundled up in a coat and a knit hat as he talked to a woman who was standing on top of a snowy mountain without a coat on. He told her, “Right now, your brain’s telling you that you’re warm, but you’re not. That’s a defense mechanism.”

The trailer also included a clip of Randy, Bobby’s cousin, talking to someone on the phone. On his laptop, Randy had an article pulled up with the headline “Deadzone Wilderness – Weird as Hell.”

“The place Colter is, folks are calling it the ‘Deadzone Wilderness,’” Randy said.

Additionally, Velma Bruin and Reenie Greene were seen chatting in their office. Reenie pulled a document out of an envelope and Velma asked her what it was. “You don’t want to know,” Reenie told her colleague.

Colter was also seen taking out a gun while kneeling in the snow and pointing it at something.

In the comments section of the teaser trailer, which was posted on YouTube, one person said, “Need more Reenie and Colter moments.”

“Its kind of annoying that they keep them apart so much. They are so good when together,” another person replied.

“Totally agree,” another said.

“I miss bobby,” another person commented.

Randy has been filling in for Bobby for the past six episodes, and it looks like season 2, episode 16, is no different. In episode 15, Randy and Colter talked about how Bobby was taking some time off to attend the funeral of one of his friends, who was like a brother to him. Colter said that Bobby had not yet texted him back, but Randy told Colter that he would eventually.

Even with the brief discussion about Bobby’s whereabouts, fans were still disappointed not to see him return in episode 15.

“Bobby been gone for a week now & now you’re finally bringing him up that better mean he gone be back next episode #TrackerCBS,” one fan wrote on X on March 30.

“Now is the actor for Bobby fired, written off or what because the indirect lines here and there about him every few episodes is annoying. #Tracker #trackercbs #paramountplus,” another asked.

“Where is #Bobby?? #Tracker #TrackerCBS,” another said.

No time frame has been given as to when and if Bobby, played by Eric Graise, will return to the show. Many believed a clip of him in the midseason trailer meant he was guaranteed to return in season 2, but Closer debunked that theory after pointing out that the clip was from a previous episode. That’s not to say that he won’t return at all, but it might not be when you think.
