Halle Bailey Reveals How Her Son Awakens Her Inner Child: A Heartwarming Insight into Motherhood

Halle Bailey recently shared her personal journey with postpartum depression and the insights she’s gained since embracing motherhood.

During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the acclaimed singer and actress discussed her life after the birth of her son, Halo, and the significance of being acknowledged for her advocacy in maternal mental health.

“It was incredibly important to me because of my mindset and what I was experiencing right after my son was born,” Bailey explained. “I felt compelled to speak out, not just for the older women but also for the younger generation. Many women around my age, in their mid-20s, are becoming mothers, and it’s overwhelming. The emotional rollercoaster, the hormonal changes—it’s a lot to handle.”

Bailey also reflected on how motherhood has allowed her to reconnect with her inner child.

“One of my favorite things about being a mom is how much I learn from my son. He brings out the child in me every day,” she said. “Engaging in playful activities with him, like painting or something fun, feels like I’m nurturing the little girl within myself. It’s as if I’m experiencing childhood all over again.”

“You know, I think my favorite thing is I feel like I’m learning so much from my child. I think that I’m learning so much, and also he’s bringing out the inner child in me every single day. Like I feel like I’m feeding the little girl in me, like painting or doing a fun activity. It’s like, oh, I’m having fun. I’m a child again too.”

Halle shares her 22-month-old son with her ex, DDG. The pair split in October 2024 and are still working through custody arrangements.

According to court filings, both have made allegations of abuse against each other, and Halle currently has a restraining order that prevents either parent from posting Halo online.

The order, originally set to expire on October 15, has been extended until November 5 after both sides agreed to delay their next court date.

The update comes as DDG released a new song titled “17 More Years,” which appears to reference their co-parenting situation.

“I don’t wanna fight no more, tired of the court dates/Lawyers gettin’ over on us, watching’ money go to waste/We should all get together on his birthday, light the cake/If we talk, it’ll get better, go ahead and drop the case,” he says on the track.

He continues, “We ain’t got no communication, that’s the main thing/Every time we walk into that court they say the same thing/These judges judgin’ me and I gotta stay calm/Still got respect for you, you are a good mom.”
