Since Apple TV+‘s psychological space thriller Constellation premiered in February, it’s become one of the streamer’s most compelling, mind-boggling sci-fi series. Now that Season 1 has come to an end, viewers have a string of lingering questions, with “Will there be a Constellation Season 2? at the top of the list.

Have we seen the last of Jo Ericsson (Noomi Rapace), Henry and Bud Caldera (Jonathan Banks), Paul Lancaster (William Catlett), Irena Lysenko (Barbara Sukowa), Magnus (James D’Arcy) and both Alices (Rosie and Davina Coleman)? Or will we return to Constellation‘s multiple universes for another round of complex, ambitious storylines?

Curious if Constellation Season 2 is a go? Wondering if Apple TV+ renewed or canceled Constellation ahead of its Season 1 finale?

Here’s everything we know about the future of the series, including comments from creator/EP/writer Peter Harness.

Will There Be A Constellation Season 2 On Apple TV+? Creator Peter Harness Weighs In

As of Constellation‘s Season 1 finale day on Wednesday, March 25, Apple TV+ had yet to renew or cancel the space thriller. If it were up to creator Peter Harness, however, the series would have a long life.

During a Constellation panel at the Television Critics Association’s Winter 2024 tour in February, a TCA member asked if the series was meant to be ongoing, to which Harness replied, “I think that obviously we’re very happy to get to the end of the first season, but there’s a long way to go with these characters. I think there’s a bigger story to tell about space, about the history of this, and I think these guys have got a long way to go. They’ve only just landed back on Earth and life is very long for these characters.”

Constellation star Jonathan Banks, 77, chimed in to add, “And some of us are very old…And you don’t want them dying on you.”

With Fresh Tomatometer and Audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes and lots more stories to explore, it’s easy to imagine why Apple TV+ would renew Constellation for Season 2. While we wait for updates, let’s imagine what future episodes might explore.

Constellation Ending Explained: What Would A Constellation Season 2 Look Like?

If you’re looking for a detailed explanation of Constellation‘s ending, Decider’s Season 1 finale recap has you covered. As noted, in Season 1’s final five minutes, Paul Lancaster wakes in his hospital bed. Jo tells Magnus, “I love you and I want you more than I did,” seemingly committing to her new reality. Irina sits with Alice outside the convent and introduces herself as Valya. And Alice — abandoning “Mummy” — says, “Mamma…If what happened happened. If I’m from here and daddy’s from here and you’re from there…where’s the baby gonna be from?”

The finale cuts back to the ISS and we hear Jo’s pre-recorded voice message say, “Alice, even if I’m not here I’m always with you and daddy. I don’t think you understand how much I wanted to be around, see you grow up. No matter what happens my eyes are always on you and my heart is with you, baby. I love you so much, more than you can ever imagine my love.” As the iPad floats through the space station and Jo — with half a head missing from the accident — floats alongside it, we assume she’s dead, but in the final second of the season, she comes back to life and grabs the iPad with her left hand!

If Season 2 gets green lit, Constellation will likely continue to switch between different universes, follow characters adapting and seeking answers, show Jo’s pregnancy, Paul’s road to recovery, Irina’s email response, and life now that CAL is destroyed. Will Henry be trapped in jail for Bud’s crimes? Will Jo give up the fight to return back to her daughter? And what’s the deal with Jo waking up in space?! Here’s hoping we get more episodes of Constellation to unpack Season 1’s cliffhangers.
