Magda Szubanski has revealed that she was as shocked as the rest of us when Heath Ledger planted a kiss on her lips in that now infamous viral video from 2006.
During the AFI Awards that year, the comedian, who was in character as Sharon Strzelecki from the hit ABC comedy Kath & Kim, approached Heath mid-interview, before he spontaneously planted a long smooch on her lips.
On Sunday, the 61-year-old responded to a person on Twitter who asked her of the video, ‘Was this a setup @MagdaSzubanski? At least a joke between friends?’

The day after their red carpet smooch, the Two Hands star rang Magda with a proposal.
‘He’d had so much fun that he wanted to discuss a storyline for Kath & Kim, where he would become Sharon’s stalker,’ said the three-time Logie winner.

Just two years later in 2008, the Perth-born star tragically died following a drug overdose.
‘It would have been so great if he’d been in the show,’ lamented Szubanski.
