Selling Sunset has welcomed a new face, Sandra Vergara, who is quickly making waves alongside fan favorite Chrishell Stause. Sandra brings a unique blend of talents to the show as an accomplished actress and journalist. Adding to her intriguing profile, she is the adoptive sister of Sofia Vergara from Modern Family.
Sandra’s connection to Sofia is unveiled in the sixth episode of Selling Sunset‘s ninth season, where she makes her debut with just 12 minutes left on the clock.
During her introduction, Sandra acknowledged her famous sibling, stating, “Yes, I am related to Sofia Vergara. She’s biologically my first cousin, but her mom adopted me, so we grew up as sisters.”
Though new to the world of real estate, Sandra expressed her enthusiasm, saying, “I’ve been an artist my whole life and then transitioned into journalism. People close to me always said, ‘You’d excel in real estate.’ And here I am, ready to take on the challenge.”
Before joining the show, Sandra appeared in various productions such as Nip/Tuck, CSI: Miami, and The Bold and the Beautiful, showcasing her versatility as an actress.
Later, Oppenheim Group realtor Chelsea Lanza points out that Sandra looks “a little bit similar” to Sofia. “Really? Smaller boobs, but yeah,” Sandra responds.
Sandra and Stause also sat down together for a meal where Sandra revealed their paths crossed when Stause competed on Dancing With the Stars. “You remember when you were on Dancing With the Stars? I was an entertainment journalist for PEOPLE and I would interview you every week,” Sandra told her, though Stause did not seem to remember.
But their friendship later turned rocky in the season finale when Sandra confronted Stause after sensing some tension.
“Have I rubbed you the wrong way in any way or something?” Sandra asked. “It’s just a feeling I get. I just feel a bit of resistance.”
Stause denied it at first, telling Sandra, “I know what you’re saying you’re feeling but I feel like I’ve been lovely to you. I think you’re reading into things.”
But as Sandra pushed further, Stause soon relented and fetched her phone. She showed Sandra a photo of her assistant and asked if she recognized her, which Sandra could not. Stause then revealed that her assistant told her she used to live in the same building as Sandra and believed Sandra once keyed her car.
“I’ve never keyed anybody’s car. Not even an ex,” Sandra responded.
Stause didn’t seem convinced but she told Sandra she “wouldn’t even have brought it up” if Sandra hadn’t insisted. “I was nothing but friendly to you. You wanna try to paint it like I wasn’t, that’s your prerogative,” she said. “I wait and see how someone moves because this is all my experience with people when they join the office. And I thought it would be different with you, so I am disappointed.”
Stause then attempted to continue with the viewing but Sandra could not hold back her tears. “The whole key thing, that was shocking. Like, I’ve never keyed a car. That’s fucked up. The last thing I want is to have you upset at me. I know you don’t want to be mean,” Sandra said.
Stause offered her some sage advice in response.
“I don’t know if you want my advice or not. I’ve been at the office long enough to know honestly, you do have to toughen up a little bit, because at the end of the day, nothing matters except for your success and what you’re there to do,” she told the newcomer.
Selling Sunset Season 9 is streaming now on Netflix.
