Hollywood actress and model Shanna Moakler turned 48-years-old this week.
And the former Playboy model took to Instagram to share a note about the big day.
The ex-wife of Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker was makeup free as she posed for a portrait without any filters, just sunlight.
And in her caption she said it was not an easy birthday as her mother Gail passed away in January at the age of 77.
‘I can’t deny that today was hard having my first bday without my mom, because it was,’ she began her heartbreaking note.

Hard day: And in her caption she said it was not an easy birthday. ‘I can’t deny that today was hard having my first bday without my mom, because it was’ she began her note
Then she added, ‘But I looked through my time hop today and I saw all the amazing people, places, friends, family, experiences I have been able to have over the past 48 years.
‘And I can’t begin to tell you how happy and grateful and thankful I am to have lived this incredible life with so many loving souls not all may still be here but I feel blessed and of course my amazing kids,’ she said.
‘Thank you for all the kind messages and bday wishes! I’m thankful to get to see!
‘Oh and here’s no filter and no make up just some sun rays for added drama…I like to think it was my mom shining down with me ❤️.’
In January Moakler shared her mother Gail died at the age of 77.
The former Miss USA confirmed to People on Tuesday her mother’s passing, saying, ‘I am so thankful for all the friends and family that have reached out and sent their condolences.’

The reality star added, ‘My mother was a beautiful and kind and loving woman and she was everything that I hope to be.’
Moakler said that ‘as a mother, [Gail] was loving, kind and supportive,’ noting that ‘more than anything, she was my best friend and I will miss her every day of my life.’
She wrapped up her statement in saying, ‘I understand that this is a part of life and something that we all can actually support one another with, which is the loss of someone we love. Godspeed.’

Moakler is mother to son Landon, 19, and daughter Alabama, 17, with ex Travis Barker, 46, who she was married to from 2004 to 2008; and daughter Atiana De La Hoya, 23, from her former engagement to boxer Oscar De La Hoya, 49.
Last May, she took to Instagram with a Mother’s Day tribute for her parent via Instagram.
Moakler wrote: ‘#happymothersday @gailmoakler there will never be enough words to express how thankful I am to have you as my mom! Thank you for always standing by me and supporting me through this crazy life. I love you so much! You truly are the most amazing mother….’
For Mother’s Day in 2021, she shared a series of pics of Gail with the caption, ‘Happy Mother’s Day to my beautiful mom @gailmoakler how lucky I am to have a mom like you! You’re my best friend and my idol! I love you so much!’
Moakler in August of 2021 took to the site to wish her parents Gail and John a happy 50th anniversary.
‘Today is my mom and dads 50th wedding anniversary officially!’ she wrote. ‘Taking them to #capriccios with the family! To have a love like this love you @gailmoakler @drjohnmoakler you inspire me everyday.’
