American businessman and philanthropist Jim McIngvale Illness captivated readers’ attention after he reacted to his loss of a $2 million bet on the Cowboys-49ers Game.

James Franklin McIngvale, famed for his nickname Mattress Mack is the founder and owner of Houston-based largest retail chain, Gallery Furniture.

In 1999, the businessman spoke at the British Deming Association annual conference about the influence of W. Edwards Deming on his business methods.

In addition to his business, Jim co-authored the book, Always Think Big with Thomas Duening and John Ivancevic, related to the chronicles of the ups and downs of his entrepreneurial career.

In 1992, the Philanthropist and his wife became Executive producers of the action-comedy film, Sidekicks.

In 2013, Jim was undergoing a heart procedure. He posted a photo of himself on Facebook on September 26 in a hospital bed, announcing suffering from atrial fibrillation or an abnormal heartbeat.

In his surgery on August 29, Jim tweeted he had to repair a patent foramen ovale, or PFO, a congenital condition that happens when a hole in the heart.

The business, however, has not confirmed his diagnosis of Cancer.

His daughter, Elizabeth, was diagnosed and struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and became the founder of the Peace of Mind foundation, a non-profit foundation dedicated to OCD. 

Elizabeth is an assistant professor in the Menninger department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM).

Jim’s spokeswoman, Jessica Manning, told Houston’s ABC affiliate KTRK that he discovered the condition while at St. Luke’s Heart Institute for a routine check-up.

Being a heart patient, Jim founded St. Luke’s mobile stroke unit and is the most significant contributor to the Texas Heart Institute.

According to communityimpact.com, the businessman became one of the most significant contributors to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo with more than $4 million contribution.

Looking at the records, Jim seems to have a history of heart conditions; the business is the investor for the world’s first artificial heart.

In an interview, Jim revealed his Father and brother both died of congestive heart failure, a condition affecting the lives of 600,000 Americans yearly.

The businessman is teaming up with doctors Bud Frazier and Daniel Timms to develop a lightweight machine called the BiVACOR.

How Did Jim McIngvale Loose Two Million Dollars?

Jim is an established Houston-based businessman famed for extravagant million-dollar sports bets; he recently lost around $ 2 million on the Cowboys-49ers Game on January 22, 2023.

The businessman gave up over $3.1 million when he placed a bet on the TCU Horned Frogs winning the College Football National Championship in 2019.

The Philanthropist won and took home $75 million in cash after the Houston Astros won the 2022 World Series, a result of the Houston Astros claiming the 2022 World Series championship.

Mack supports a poker stable at the WSOP; a poker stable is a group of players backed by the same organization or a single person.

The businessman endorsed the reelection of Republican U.S. Representative John Culberson and appeared in commercials supporting the congressman.

During the 2022 World Series, Jim placed a $4.5 million wager on the Cincinnati Bengals to win Super Bowl LVI. It officially set the record for the most prominent mobile wager in sports betting history.
