AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The 4-H Garden Club met up today to introduce agriculture to kids in Richmond County.

The 4-H Garden Club meets on the second Saturday of each month at Belle Terrace Community Garden. They were supposed to meet and have a day of service, “A Day On, Not a Day Off,” on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, but it was postponed because of the cold weather. So, they rescheduled for today- focusing on making compost bins with three simple supplies.

“Georgia’s number one industry is agriculture,” said C. Joy Brown, Lead Volunteer for Garden Club.  “So, you have to introduce kids to agriculture, and then guess what? We’re In Augusta, the Garden City. So, what better club to have here in Garden City than a 4H Garden Club to promote agriculture?”

On February 22nd, they will be planting blueberries in the garden.
