Augusta, Ga () – The Irish-American Heritage Society held it’s Grand Marshal Ball Saturday to kick off the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Season. Along with naming the Grand Marshal there are also awards for the Family and Lady of the Year.

We spoke with leaders about the importance of heritage. Jason Scherer, Vice-President Irish-American Heritage Society told , “Being a part of the Irish-American Heritage Society is something I take very seriously. It’s something that I’m honored to do. My grandparents help start this organization, my father’s been very involved, my family has been involved. To be a part and continue this and be a part of the legacy is very important to me and it’s not my society it’s our society.”

Ray Brady was named the 2025 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal. Philomena Mooney was named the Irish Lady of the Year, and The family of Thomas Poteet was named the Family of the Year. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is scheduled for Monday March 17th.
