BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A 61-year-old Melbourne man was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding a motorcycle in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The crash happened before 11 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 1 near Orbiter Court in Melbourne.
Troopers said the man was traveling north in the outside lane when an unknown vehicle struck the rear of the motorcycle.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be thrown from the bike. The driver of the unknown vehicle fled the scene after the collision. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers said.
Troopers have not released any information about the suspect vehicle or driver.
