INDIANTOWN, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida man is accused of pulling a vehicle over, claiming to be an ICE agent, and threatening to deport two victims.

José Juan Lopez, 23, of Indiantown, Florida, was arrested by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office after the two men said they were pulled over on a traffic stop.

The victims, only identified as Hispanic men, said Lopez claimed to be an agent with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and demanded their identification, authorities said. After he threatened to deport them, the men became suspicious so they drove off and called 911.

When deputies tracked Lopez down, he turned the story on the victims, claiming he was the actual victim who was threatened with deportation.

Officials arrested and charged Lopez with impersonating a federal law enforcement agent. According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect has a criminal history within Martin County including resisting arrest, child abuse, battery, domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of probation.

Lopez remains at the Martin County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
