EDGEFIELD COUNTY, S.C. () – After a brief investigation of gunfire in a Edgefield County neighborhood, investigators discovered drug activity at a home near the intersection of Highway 25 and Wind Road.
The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant early Wednesday morning. Upon arrival, investigators found reinforced doors to the home and had a hard time getting in. They even had to use impact entry tools.
Once inside investigators found marijuana as the suspect, identified Ezzie E. Small, was attempting to flush the drugs down the toilet. Further investigation revealed Small had two handguns in his possession, but has multiple felony convictions.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing. Additional charges are expected for unlawful Conduct with a Child and Destruction of Evidence.
In total, Small could be facing up to 17 years, investigators say.
