ORANGEBURG, S.C. — In a stunning display of skill and teamwork, Bethesda Academy’s football team secured their second state championship in just three years. They triumphed over Pee Dee Academy with a decisive 54-15 victory to claim the SCISA Class 2A state title at South Carolina State University on Saturday.

This victory was not Bethesda’s first over Pee Dee Academy this season. The two teams clashed earlier on October 24, when Bethesda convincingly clinched the Region I-AA Championship with a 49-0 win.

The Blazers set the tone early in the state final, opening the scoring with an impressive 70-yard touchdown. Following a successful two-point conversion, they took an early 8-0 lead. Later in the first quarter, they extended their advantage to 14-0 with a one-yard touchdown run, although the subsequent two-point attempt was unsuccessful.

In the second quarter, Bethesda continued to dominate, adding another rushing touchdown with a 26-yard sprint that pushed their lead to 20-0. A two-point conversion boosted the score to 22-0.

By halftime, Bethesda had surged ahead with a commanding 46-8 lead, setting the stage for their eventual victory.

Bethesda caps its second undefeated season in school history. They go 12-0. The first unblemished year occurred in 2023. The school went 13-0 and won its first state title in the sport of football.
