STATESBORO, Ga. — This week, the spirit of dance and generosity filled Statesboro as Safe Haven Statesboro celebrated its 15th annual ‘Dancing with the Statesboro Stars’ at Connection Church. The lively event took place on both Thursday and Sunday, drawing enthusiastic crowds and support.
This year, 10 energetic dance teams graced the stage, successfully raising over $156,000 for the nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals affected by domestic violence.
“We’re thrilled to host this event each year,” stated Kim Billings, director of public relations for Safe Haven. “It’s a fantastic way to shine a light on the issue of domestic violence—a topic that often remains in the shadows or goes unnoticed in many communities.”
During Sunday’s showcase, the dynamic duo of G. Flores and Kelsey Flannery captured the hearts of the audience, earning them the title of fan favorites. Meanwhile, the team of Isaac Fordjour and Autumn McBride received the Team Player Award, a special recognition from fellow dancers honoring the pair who contributed the most to the overall enjoyment of the event.
Earlier, on Thursday night, Emily Gillen and Bryan Realiza impressed the judges and were named as the Judge’s Choice winners, which made them ineligible for the fan favorite award on Sunday.
Billings said anyone in need of Safe Haven’s help can reach out to the 24/7 hotline at 912-764-4605.
“We would like to thank our community for all the support that they give to Safe Haven to help us serve, strengthen and support survivors of domestic violence,” she said. “We truly believe everyone deserves to be safe, and there is help out there, and there is always hope.”
