NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. – An officer-involved shooting occurred at a gas station in North Augusta, and the Aiken County Coroner was called to the scene.
The incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon at the Sprint Gas Station located on Edgefield Road.
According to eyewitness accounts gathered by NewsChannel 6, the altercation involved at least three individuals. The identities of those involved have not been disclosed at this time.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has confirmed that a police officer was involved in the incident, but fortunately, the officer did not sustain any injuries.
Officials from North Augusta Public Safety reported that when officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a suspect in the gas station’s parking lot. During this confrontation, one of the officers discharged their weapon, hitting the suspect.
Investigators then located two victims from before their arrival. Their conditions have not been confirmed.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
