In Deltona, Florida, a routine early morning took a dramatic turn when an attempted home invasion erupted into gunfire, prompting a search for multiple suspects. This unsettling event unfolded around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, as reported by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, the targeted residence is located on Wainwright Street. Surveillance footage from a doorbell camera captured a group of four individuals attempting to break into the home. When their efforts proved unsuccessful, the suspects resorted to firing shots at the house before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.

The neighborhood was abruptly awakened by the sounds of gunfire. “It was like bang-bang-bang, like that,” a neighbor recounted, describing the terrifying noise that broke the silence of the early morning hours.

Authorities are actively pursuing leads to apprehend those responsible for this brazen act, as the community remains on edge following the disturbance.

“It was like bang-bang-bang, like that,” one neighbor said, recalling the noise that jolted her awake.

She said that she heard shots around 4:07 a.m. and immediately worried about her family.

Deputies say the suspects’ vehicle was later spotted on I-4, leading to a pursuit. Authorities say deputies eventually lost sight of the vehicle.

Cresinda Jones, who moved into her home down the street last month, said she watched in fear as crime scene tape and patrol cars surrounded the area.

“I’m thankful that no one was harmed. I have a 19-month-old here, and stray bullets don’t know anyone,” she said. “That’s very dangerous. It could happen to me.”

Detectives have not said how many shots were fired or whether the house was specifically targeted.

The investigation is ongoing.
