ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) — On Thursday, the Elizabethton City Council passed to fill the vacancy for a municipal judge.

Those interested in the position can apply at Elizabethton City Hall. Applications will be accepted until February 28 at noon.

The applicants will be considered at the next commission meeting in March.

“It’ll be on the city council agenda for the March meeting for consideration,” Estes said. “So we will, as soon as practicable, get those documents to the council so they can individually look at each applicant, and then they can consider who they prefer. Then, the floor will be open at the March meeting for a nomination, and the council will vote and make a selection from there.”

Daniel Estes, Elizabethton City Manager, said the council must fill the vacancy following Judge Jason Holly’s license being suspended in December 2024. Judge Stacy Street has served as interim municipal judge since Holly’s absence.
