BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A day after a former teacher was found guilty of being drunk and disorderly at an underage house party, the attention now shifts to prosecuting the former principal of Roosevelt Elementary.

On Tuesday, Karly Anderson was convicted of her two misdemeanor charges and sentenced to probation, but Cocoa Beach police said Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan was the one who hosted the 100 drinking students.

More body camera video released by the state attorney’s office showed a phone call between an officer and Brodigan when days after the party, police came to Brodigan’s house to arrest her.

“May I ask why do you wanna see me in person, though?” she asked over the phone.

“Because this is your house, and I can’t really do these things over the phone,” Detective Emilio Rosa answered.

Brodigan, sounding nervous, then asked if she would be going to jail.

“Yes, I have a warrant for your arrest to take you to the county jail,” Rosa responded.

“A warrant for arrest, oh, my God,” Brodigan reacted.

On another call before she was arrested and bonded out, Brodigan told police the party at her house was her son having a bonfire with some friends.

On more body cam footage released earlier in the case, students were seen wearing white, which police said wasn’t for a bonfire, but rather for a huge “white lie” party.

The State Attorney’s Office said Brodigan was on camera in the background as police were investigating a minor throwing up and shaking on her lawn.

Just before Anderson’s trial started, Brodigan waived her right to a speedy trial.

It’s common for defendants to do that in felony cases to give the defense more time to prepare. The most serious charge she’s facing is child neglect.
