SAVANNAH, Ga. — Bringing early holiday cheer to Savannah’s southside, Feed the Hungry kicked off the season two months in advance.
The “Official Christmas in October” celebration unfolded on Saturday afternoon at the Windsor Forest Community Center. Attendees enjoyed holiday-themed meals, fresh local produce, and special gifts for senior residents, making it a day of community warmth and generosity.
Representative Carl Gilliard attended the gathering, emphasizing the initiative’s importance in supporting the community as the holiday season approaches.
“As Christmas nears, many families face increased challenges. Today, we’re offering a hot meal, fresh poultry, and health screenings,” Gilliard noted. “This event, ‘Christmas in October,’ is our way of reaching out and providing support before the festive season kicks in.”
Looking ahead, Feed the Hungry is also planning another event titled “Hope on a Plate,” scheduled for December 15.
