SAVANNAH, Ga. — As the thirteenth week of the Friday Night Blitz wrapped up, local high school football teams clashed in thrilling playoff action under the bright stadium lights.

In a dominant performance, Hilton Head Island secured a convincing 52-24 victory over South Aiken in the opening round of the Class 4A playoffs. The Seahawks set the tone early, with running back Javin Risher breaking through for the game’s first touchdown. This win propels Hilton Head Island into the second round, where they will compete against Wilson on November 14.

Meanwhile, May River’s promising season came to a bittersweet end with a 36-28 defeat at the hands of Wilson, concluding their campaign with a respectable 7-4 record. Despite a valiant effort, the Sharks struggled against the formidable Wilson offense. The turning point came in the third quarter when a May River interception shifted the momentum decisively in favor of the Tigers.

May River’s season ended with a 7-4 record after a 36-28 loss to Wilson. The Sharks battled to the final whistle but couldn’t overcome a strong Tigers’ offense.

The third quarter started off with an interception thrown by May River, shifting momentum in Wilson’s favor.

Bluffton High School kicked off the first round of playoffs against Gilbert at home with an 8-2 overall record on their 2025-2026 season.

After last year’s heartbreak to May River in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs, the Bobcats looked to bounce back from the one-point playoff loss.

Bluffton opened up the game strong, with an incredible catch from Carnell Warren during their first possession. They ultimately fell to Gilbert with a final score of 38-21.
