TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Rooted in Progress is continuing our series spotlighting the candidates running for Tampa’s City Council District 5 seat. Our goal is to help voters get to know the people behind the platforms—what drives them, where they come from, and how they plan to shape the future of our city, specifically this growing community.
Joining us this week are two passionate community advocates: Darrell Ashley Dudney and Fran Tate.
Darrell Ashley Dudney is a Tampa native and local business owner. Dudney shares his vision for economic empowerment, community-focused development, and creating opportunities that keep Tampa moving forward.
Also joining us is Fran Tate, a name synonymous with service in East Tampa. With 34 years of dedicated community work, including two decades focused on East Tampa, Fran brings unmatched experience and insight. Currently she serves on the East Tampa CRA Community Advisory Committee and is the founder and long-time president of the Jackson Heights Neighborhood Association. Her commitment to neighborhood revitalization, youth outreach, and civic engagement runs deep.
Tune in at 9:30 this morning to hear where they stand, what they’re fighting for, and why they believe they’re the right voice for District 5.
