CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) – Sunday was a good day for the Illini on the diamond.

Illinois baseball and softball both clinched weekend series wins with Sunday victories.

Illinois baseball beat Indiana 15-1 in the rubber match. Regan Hall threw the whole game as the Illini needed just seven innings to handle the Hoosiers. He allowed just four hits and one walk. Vytas Valincius hit three doubles, driving in seven runs.

Illinois softball completed a thrilling late comeback to beat Michigan State and win a Big Ten series for the first time all year. The Illini trailed 4-2 in the seventh inning before Keirys Click and Eileen Donahue sent back-to-back homers over the left field wall. Donahue’s home run walked it off as Illinois won 5-4.

Sunday’s win boosts Illinois softball to 17-20 overall and 4-8 in Big Ten play. Up next, the Illini hosts Valparaiso on Wednesday.

Illinois baseball improved to 20-13 overall, 9-6 in league action. Dan Hartleb’s team hosts SIUE on Tuesday.
