JCPD: One dead following a shooting on Mel Circle

UPDATE: The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) confirmed that one person has died following a shooting on Mel Circle.

Larry Guinn, 39, of Johnson City has been identified as the person who died as a result of the shooting, according to the JCPD.

No arrest has been made in the investigation. This was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.


JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) is investigating a shooting that took place on Sunday afternoon.

A statement from the JCPD said the alleged shooting took place just after 1 p.m. at a residence on Mel Circle. One person of interest is in custody and one person was transported to a hospital for treatment of “gunshot injuries”, according to the release.

An investigation by the JCPD is ongoing.
