AUGUSTA, Ga. ()– Paula Lambert tells us about a situation in Sudan which ended abruptly when civil war broke out in 2023.

Her daughter, Meagan, was on a 5-day missions trip… which turned into weeks. She and her team were being hidden in “safe houses” as the war grew closer.

It became a test of mental and spiritual strength because the airport was destroyed –shattering their hopes of going home.

“Meagan was there to speak in the church about mental health and and hope, and the ironic thing is that she immediately had to put on all of those things that she just encouraged other people to do. She had to show us what she had. And the team was immediately removed from the church and put in a safe home, and so all of their belongings, including their medications, were left in the hotel. They were not allowed to go back because it was invaded.”

Paula also tells us about a movie in the works, “Grounded,” and how the film addresses mental health issues that are often ignored, or dismissed, as our nation is in a mental health crisis now unlike any we’ve seen before. She says in light of increasing awareness for mental health within the church, “Grounded” highlights real-life scenarios that challenge what one knows versus what one truly believes.
