SAVANNAH, Ga. – This past Saturday, the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority took a significant stride in the fight against breast cancer by hosting a 5K event. This run was part of their “Paint the Town Pink” initiative, a campaign dedicated to raising funds for the Telfair Mammography Fund.
The Telfair Mammography Fund plays a crucial role in the community by providing free healthcare services to individuals battling breast cancer who lack adequate insurance coverage. This initiative ensures that those in need have access to essential medical care.
Clad in vibrant pink attire, participants circled Lake Mayer Community Park, paying tribute to those who have lost their lives to breast cancer and showing solidarity with those currently confronting the disease.
The event holds profound significance for the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter, as many of its members are personally involved in the fight against breast cancer. The chapter’s commitment to supporting one another and the broader community is unwavering.
“We encourage them to keep fighting and stay strong. We’re here for anything they need,” expressed Nicole Williams, president of the Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, highlighting the chapter’s dedication to offering support and strength to those affected by breast cancer.
