AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for allegedly shooting into an occupied vehicle in Augusta early Saturday.

According to RCSO, deputies responded to a residence on Reese Avenue regarding a report of a vehicle being struck by gunfire at 12:39 a.m. on July 19. The sheriff’s office stated that the occupants of the vehicle said a verbal altercation took place at a convenience store on Peach Orchard Road, and as they were driving home, multiple gunshots were fired at the car.

Police said an infant was also among the occupants in the vehicle at the time of the incident. No injuries were reported, and investigators responded to the scene to collect evidence.

The same day, at 4:47 p.m., RCSO deputies pulled over Rodriquez Brown at Bahama Drive, who was taken into police custody and arrested.

According to officials, additional charges are pending.

“This type of reckless and violent behavior will never be tolerated in Richmond County,” Sheriff Eugene Brantley said in a statement on the incident.

He added, “I commend the officers of the Road Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division, Intel Division, and Crime Suppression Team for working closely together to resolve this situation quickly and prevent further violence in our community. I’m especially thankful that no one, including the infant in the vehicle, was hurt.”
