SAVANNAH, Ga. () — The city of Savannah will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony next week to celebrate the opening of a new splashpad.

The ceremony will be Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at the spot of the city’s sixth splashpad, located at Montgomery Crossroads.

The splashpad is part of the Recreation Re-Imagined Initiative, expanding the Recreation and Leisure Services Department’s aquatic offerings to 16, including four city-managed pools.

The city reported the Montgomery Crossroads splashpad costed $110,000, coming from a portion of nearly $500,000 invested in Aldermanic District 5 and more than four million dollars invested citywide to upgrade or build recreation infrastructure over the last four years.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new splashpad is free and open to the public.

All splashpads are open seven days a week from March-October, operating from 9 a.m. – 8 p.m.

All city pools are open Monday-Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday’s hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

All city pools are closed Friday.

Daffin Park Pool and Tompkins Pool are open Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
