Officials react to St. Helena mass shooting

BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. () — Officials are sharing their reactions to the St. Helena shooting that killed four and injured 20 people on Sunday.

“I’m devastated by last night’s shooting in St. Helena Island, South Carolina. 4 killed and at least 20 were injured. My prayers are with all the victims and families impacted by this senseless tragedy. Too many among us have been touched by the scourge of gun violence. It is striking communities everywhere. We must come together to end this epidemic.”

“Last night, South Carolina woke up to a nightmare no community should ever endure. Four lives were stolen from us. Twenty people were injured. Families are shattered. A community is grieving.

My heart breaks for the victims, their loved ones, and everyone who was forever changed by this senseless act of violence. I’m praying for strength and healing for those in the hospital and for the families who received the worst possible news.”
