Rehab Patient Left Homeless – Screaming For Help

Just after 6 am, officers received a report of a man screaming and cussing loudly near 2nd and Court Streets.

Police couldn’t find him initially but caught up with him at Smith Drugs about half an hour later. He explained to police that he came to Portsmouth from Dayton for drug treatment and was now homeless.

The man told officers that no homeless shelter would admit him and that he was screaming in frustration because he was out in the cold. Officers referred him to Day One for assistance and suggested he stop screaming and cussing.

Twenty minutes later, police once again stopped him and advised him to stop screaming while he was walking up Chillicothe Street.
