AUGUSTA, Ga. – Doctors Hospital of Augusta is set to unveil its latest development with the grand opening of a new Graduate Medical Education (GME) facility.

This advanced space is designed to serve as a cutting-edge training ground for aspiring physicians, enhancing the hospital’s residency program. It offers current doctors a platform to mentor and guide medical graduates through hands-on experience.

The facility is thoughtfully equipped with a variety of amenities, including comfortable lounges, dedicated study rooms, as well as showers and lockers for convenience.

Moreover, the inclusion of a state-of-the-art simulation lab provides a realistic training environment, replicating various service lines available at Doctors Hospital, to ensure comprehensive education and preparation for future medical professionals.

There will also be a simulation lab to represent service lines within Doctors Hospital.

The director of graduate medical education says this training environment is indescribable.

“The culture here at Doctors Hospital is incredible. I’ve worked at multiple facilities and it’s just indescribable. We’ve got an amazing team here and I’m just excited to bring them into this environment, to train them and hopefully keep them in our community too, to meet the needs of our community,” said Tracy Stevenson.

As the hospital continues to grow with more floors and expansion of the emergency room, this GME space becomes very important.

The chief medical officer says providing the best care for the community is number one and this space allows for it to take place here at Doctors Hospital.

“Working with graduate medical education is a lot of fun. It really increases the quality of the care that we offer our community because our physicians have to be up to date on the newest and latest medical literature, procedures and processes, and it really provides the best community care that we can offer,” said Dr. John Farr.

The new space will be located in the Heart, Lung and Vascular Building.

At the ribbon cutting they will also introduce two brand new programs

This all starts at 11am at Doctors Hospital.
