MIAMI, Fla. (WFLA) — A third camper who was aboard a sailboat that was struck by a barge in Biscayne Bay died Sunday, officials said.

NBC affiliate WTVJ reported that the U.S. Coast Guard confirmed the 10-year-old girl was at Jackson Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family, when she died.

Former Bal Harbour Mayor Gabriel Groisman confirmed the death of his cousin, 10-year-old Arielle Buchman, in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

This marks the third death resulting from a crash involving six people, five girls and a 19-year-old, who were aboard a sailboat when it was struck by the barge near Miami.

Two other girls,13-year-old Erin Victoria Ko and 7-year-old Mila Yankelevich, the granddaughter of Argentine TV producers, were also killed in the boating crash.

They were in the final week of a sailing camp held for children ages 7 to 15.

The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office told reporters that the cause of both girls’ deaths was determined to be accidental drowning.

According to WTVJ, another 8-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition, but her current status is unknown.

The 19-year-old woman and a 12-year-old were also rescued but were uninjured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
