UCF parts ways with baseball coach Greg Lovelady

ORLANDO, Fla. – After seven seasons, Greg Lovelady’s time as UCF’s baseball coach has come to an end, according to a news release from the university.

Lovelady was named the Knights’ head coach in 2016 and finishes with a 83-68 (.549) record in regular-season AAC play over the seven years.

In his first season at UCF, he led the team to a NCAA Championship appearance and a shared American Athletic Conference title, followed by an appearance in the AAC Tournament title game in 2021, according to the release.

Lovelady was also named AAC Coach of the Year in 2017.

“We appreciate all of Greg’s hard work, effort and commitment over his seven seasons. There’s no doubt he’s a high-character individual,” said UCF vice president and director of athletics Terry Mohajir. “I’m excited for the future because we believe in the trajectory of our baseball program”

Before being named head coach, Lovelady was on the Wright State staff for nine seasons, the final seven as associate head coach.
