CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Illinois State Police has provided additional details about a deadly car crash on Illinois Route 130 near Philo Friday morning, including how it happened.
State Troopers said their investigation found a car driving westbound on County Road 700 North failed to yield at the intersection with Route 130. A car that was driving northbound on Route 130 subsequently hit the westbound car on the driver’s side.
The driver of the westbound car, Suzanne Ayers of Sidney, was taken to a nearby hospital and was later pronounced dead. There were three people inside the northbound car: 35-year-old Christine Herschberger from Broadlands, and two young passengers.
Herschberger and her passengers were also taken to an area hospital, but they were not seriously hurt and are expected to be ok.
Illinois Route 130 was closed for nearly six hours in the aftermath of the crash. The road reopened around 1:30 p.m.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The Champaign County Coroner has publicly identified the victim of a Friday morning car crash near Philo.
Coroner Duane Northrup said Suzanne C. Ayers, 30 of Sidney, was pronounced dead at 9 a.m. at the Emergency Department of Carle Hospital in Urbana. An autopsy is scheduled at the Champaign County Coroner’s Regional Autopsy Facility.
This death is being investigated by the Champaign County Coroner’s Office and the Illinois State Police.

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois Route 130 has reopened at County Road 700 North, State Police announced.
The road was shut down for nearly six hours on Friday following a two-vehicle crash that left one person dead. State troopers reopened the road to public traffic at 1:30 p.m.
CHAMPAIGN, COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — One person is dead following a crash on Illinois Route 130 south of Philo, State Police confirmed.
The crash happened at the intersection with County Road 700 North. State Troopers said that at approximately 7:42 a.m., two vehicles collided at the intersection. One of the drivers involved was taken to an area hospital and was later pronounced dead.
Reporters on the scene of crash found the two vehicles on the side of the road. One was in the roadside ditch and the other came to rest in a cornfield.
State Police did not provide any information on how the crash occurred.
