Warning: Spoilers ahead for “NCIS” Season 23, Episode 6 — “Page-Turner”
The latest episode of “NCIS” unveils a startling revelation about the mysterious death of Alden Parker’s mother, Eleanor. In “Page-Turner,” viewers learn that Jimmy Palmer, portrayed by Brian Dietzen, has obtained Eleanor’s original autopsy report. The findings reveal that her injuries do not align with those typically seen in a fatal car accident. This prompts a concerned Kasie Hines, played by Diona Reasonover, to urge Jimmy to share this crucial information with Alden. However, as the episode concludes, Jimmy and Kasie remain the only ones privy to the truth behind Eleanor’s death.
Alden Parker has been haunted by his mother’s passing for years. Initially, he believed that Eleanor died from a stroke long after she had left their family. However, his father, Roman, played by Francis X. McCarthy, later provides a different narrative, explaining that Eleanor perished in a car crash when Alden and his sister, Harriet, were still children. Roman tells Alden that Eleanor had been drinking, which led to the tragic accident. While this seemed to tie up the loose ends, Roman’s suggestion that he hadn’t been entirely truthful left questions lingering. Unfortunately, Roman’s death in the Season 22 finale left these questions unanswered.

Does the Lily mystery connect with Eleanor’s death?

Alden has been having visions of a young girl named Lily, whose enigmatic existence intertwines with Eleanor’s death and also remains unsolved. Lily’s inexplicable manifestations begin when Parker nearly drowns in the episode that ends Season 21, “Reef Madness.” His visions of her become so persistent that they start to interfere with Parker’s daily life. He seeks therapy, then asks Jimmy to help him figure out who the girl is.
In a Lily-related plot twist that makes little sense, archival newspaper photographs pulled up by Jimmy prove that Lily was at the site of Eleanor’s crash. The case remains wide open, and though Alden’s visions of Lily have tapered off, there’s no word yet as to why she would haunt Alden — whose initial memories of her in Season 21 as a childhood friend are now suspect — and what her exact involvement in the crash is.
While Alden doesn’t yet know what happened to his mom, he’ll likely go to the ends of the earth to find out how she really passed away — while making things right for her and solving the mystery of Lily as well.
